The Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV), Singapore’s largest and foremost group of real estate professionals, was formed on 1st April 1982 following a merger between the Singapore Institute of Surveyors (SIS) and the Singapore Institute of Valuers (SIV).

The main objects of the Institute are to advance and upgrade the surveying and valuing profession in Singapore and to contribute to the social well being of the community and public at large.

There are three divisions in the Institute, namely Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying and Valuation & General Practice. The affairs of each Division are managed by the respective Divisional Council elected bi-annually at its Annual General Meeting held every March. A 19-member Main Council, also elected bi-annually, oversees the three Divisional Councils and other general affairs of the Institute.

Membership of the Institute is divided into 6 categories, namely Honorary Fellow, Fellow, Member, Technical Member, Probationer and Student. Membership is by recognized qualifications coupled with appropriate practical experience.

Reciprocity of membership is currently available with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS), and Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS).
